Supporting Tabatha in this time of need and loss.

Don protégé
On September 28, 2024 Tabatha's world was thrown into a whirlwind when her and her 8-year old child witnessed a devastating motorcycle accident. To make matters worse the accident involved her husband, David. David had the right of way when entering an intersection and an SUV turned out in front of him, causing him to T-bone the passenger side of the SUV. On impact, David was thrown from the motorcycle, going over the SUV and landing on his head and right side. This caused severe head injury, a fracture of the neck at C1 and occipital bone, a broken right femur head, and a shattered right humerus above the elbow. David was lucky that the Cimarron Hills Fire Department arrived on scene in a matter of minutes and because of this they were able to load him and get him to the hospital for treatment in a short amount of time.

David and Tabatha have been married for almost 3 years and have a combined family consisting of 5 daughters. Tabatha, a nurse herself, has not left Davids side since this incident has happened. This is causing her to take leave from her nursing job while David is in ICU. David has required several test, imaging, and procedures to start the healing process. The healing process has not been easy as David has had many fall backs causing his needed surgeries to be pushed back. David has aspirated numerous times while being intubated, causing him to develop pneumonia an delaying a surgery fusing the C1 occipital bone. This surgery was again delayed due to David being unable to ward off a fever which has gotten as high as 104.1. He is currently requiring an Arctic Sun devices and warming blanket to regulator these temperatures. David was then slotted for surgery again but was canceled again due to an extremely high blood pressure which has been as high as 210/130. David was taken in for surgery on October 6, 2024, but due to his oxygen stats dropping during the procedure, the surgeon was not comfortable proceeding. Instead of fusing the C1 and occipital bone, the doctor placed a halo device to stop the movement of his neck and head. The family sees this as the first step of many for David's recovery. He still currently medically sedated and has not woken up.

David is a 20-year combat veteran of the United States Air Force. He joined in early 2004 serving at Andrews Air Force Base attached to Air Force One under President Bush and Obama. From there, he went to Barksdale Air Force Base and spent a year in Korea before finishing his career at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs at the rank of Master Sargent (E7). David earned a number of commendations and served 2 tours overseas in the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

David has a passion for motorcycles, the veteran community and helps veterans as much possible. David currently serves as the Sgt. at Arms for the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) chapter 3-2 out of Colorado Springs, an Association of veterans to support veterans. David is known throughout the motorcycle veteran community and is loved by many.

We are looking for donations for unexpected expenses due to the duration of recovery for David, Tabatha, and 5 daughters. All Resources will be used to make the family whole and help through these difficult times.

Thank you for any and all support you are willing to offer.
