Friends and family, my good friend Lauren’s mother Joyce was diagnosed with Appendiceal Adenocarcinoma with signet ring features, Stage IV - peritoneal surface disease. It is the rarest and most aggressive form of appendix cancer. Without aggressive treatment she has 6 months to a year to live.

Joyce had surgery on September 11th. Doctors had to remove the appendix and 1/3 of her colon. During the surgery they found that the appendix had ruptured and splattered the same cancer to her liver, stomach lining, ovaries, and colon. She will need to start treatment right away and will do 3-4 rounds of chemo, another surgery to remove her ovaries and all remaining cancer, followed by more chemo.

Joyce is a widow of 7 years, her late husband passed from leukemia, so this news hits really hard on her and her children. Lauren, her daughter will be her main caretaker and her son, Johan, currently resides in Korea. We believe that God will use this for his glory, and we appreciate all the help and prayers.
