Joyce Martinez

Hello all, I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of the Martinez family for my sister Joyce Martinez.
Read below for a statement from Joyce's daughters Amanda and Stephanie Martinez:
Dear family and friends,
This December we received the unfortunate news that our mothers cancer had returned. After a doctor's visit due to some pelvic pain, blood work and scans showed an isolated nodule was found on her liver. A couple months later a second nodule was discovered. Our mother is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments for what has officially been diagnosed as Stage 4 secondary metastatic liver cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center located in the Texas Medical Center. She is in good spirits, active, and pushing through her chemo treatments.
A retired school teacher, devoted wife and mother she has given much of her time serving God and selflessly serving others. She has always been there to lend a helping hand in her church and community. She is one of the strongest women we know. She has beat cancer once and we know she has the faith in God and will power to do it again.
As you know with routine and sometimes unexpected hospital visits, out of pocket costs even after insurance can incur. With limited financial income the expense of medical bills can add up. We are reaching out to our wonderful family and friends for any support to help alleviate some of the financial burden on our family.
Your donations will be distributed strictly towards any outstanding medical bills and/or continued costs of care:
- Chemotherapy infusion treatments (started April 2)
- Garage parking (ranges from $5.00 to 13.00 a visit)
- 6 medications to manage side effects
- CT and PET scans
- Routine lab tests
- Home health care visits (IV treatments she receives 4 times a week; insurance only covers 20 rounds)
- Co-pays for follow-ups
- Upcoming surgery & a week's hospital stay in ICU tentatively set for June
As a token of our appreciation, we will send you this post card designed by Joyce's daughter, Stephanie.
You can email her at [email redactado]

We truly appreciate your support and prayers.
Even if you can’t spare a donation, please spare a second and share our story in the hopes that others might be able to help.
Sincerely,
The Martinez Family (Nathaniel, Joyce, Stephanie, & Amanda)
