Jose F Casado Memorial
Dear family and close friends,
I am writing to inform you all about the loss of an amazing man, Jose Francisco Casado. While our hearts are strickened with grief over this loss, I’d like to take a moment to celebrate the remarkable life he led. A true inspiration to our family, and the many other lives he touched.
Our Dad was an amazing person that led an extraordinary life.
At 18 years old, not knowing a word of English, he came to this country from Guatemala.
He was determined to learn the culture and become a citizen. On his journey, he worked in factories, cleaned offices, drove a NYC taxi, and somehow managed to start a successful business with an office right in the heart of New York City!
He was so inspired with the American dream.
When my older brother and I decided to join the US Navy, he was fully supportive and told us to make the most of that career. He was so proud of all of his three boys, and encouraged us to work hard, and always try to do the right thing.
When I was being deployed, in the wake of 9/11, I remember calling Dad who was in downtown NYC at the time. As we spoke of the tragedy, and how I would be going overseas to support and how I was afraid, I distinctly recall him saying "Son, You go out there and you do what you have to do".
He was so extremely proud of having come to this country with not a dollar to his name, and accomplishing all that he was able to do for his family.
He taught me and my brothers the value of determination, never giving up, working hard, and to always take pride in everything you do.
Our father was OUR true hero, and an inspiration to all.
Dad fought with Liver Cancer until his very last breath, and yet he never gave up hope, and never stopped teaching.
He was a fighter, a father, and a friend to us all.
I’ve started a fundraiser to collect donations for Mom and her expenses as she manages through the many costs of this time.
We are so very grateful for every donation during this difficult time.
