Meet my amazing, strong father, Victor:
Victor’s heart problems have been a persistent struggle with the various trips in and out of the hospital. Victor had his 4th heart attack back in 2015, he was hospitalized for months. He had a quadruple bypass and then had an L-VAD (Left-ventricular assist device) placed not long after. He has been living with an L-VAD for 10 years this coming May, which is amazing. Recently he was admitted into the hospital and told he is now in need of a heart transplant; he is at home now with IV antibiotics daily and various medications. Vic was denied a heart transplant from all hospitals in Indiana, so we are now traveling to The University of Chicago (UChicago Medicine). They have started the process for a heart transplant and things are looking very promising as most of Vic’s test results are coming back good! Now we wait for a heart to come available, and when one does, we will have to drop everything and book it to Chicago.
Throughout these rough years he has been preserving and enjoying several hobbies that include hunting, fishing, watching sports (especially Kentucky Basketball, Go Cats!), and going to local auctions! Even with all of the difficulties in his life that he has faced, especially in the last couple years, my father is truly one of the most loving and caring individuals that I know.
With this, the costs are starting to pile up. My mother and I are having to take off work to get him to and from various doctor appointments, in and out of state. These costs range from his medical bills, to the cost of a hotel room to stay with him there, gas money to travel 188 miles each way, taking off work- as well as the expenses that will come with the various trips that will be required to take following the transplant (e.g. hotel costs, food, gas, toll roads, etc.). Any donations would be extremely helpful to manage the financial stress that my family has experienced during this difficult time, leaving more space to focus on the love we have for my father and his healing journey.
Although he has done his best to live his life to the fullest up to this point, with your help it could allow him to spend many more years with his loving family and friends to enjoy his life with. Your generosity will forever be appreciated by my family. Thank you.
