My name is Sevastian Munguia, and I am the organizer of this fundraiser for Ross, a 98-year-old World War II and Korean War veteran who has been our neighbor for over 20 years. Although we are not related by blood, Ross is considered part of our family. My family and I have helped care for him for many years, and recently, due to his age and increasing difficulty managing everyday activities independently, we moved him into our home so we could provide him with better care and support. I also hold power of attorney for Ross and am on his bank account, allowing me to assist with managing his finances and paying for his needs. How the donations are being used: All donations are intended to benefit Ross and help cover the expenses associated with his care and daily living. These expenses include in-home caregiving assistance, groceries, meals, adult diapers, wipes, hygiene products, personal care supplies, and other necessities. Since moving Ross into our home, we have also needed to purchase furniture and supplies to accommodate him, including a new recliner, bedroom furnishings, bedding, and other items to make his living space comfortable and safe. Donations will also help cover household expenses directly associated with caring for Ross, including his portion of utilities, food, and other living costs. Any remaining funds will be reserved for his future care, personal needs, and unexpected expenses as he continues to age. I am responsible for managing the funds on Ross’s behalf. Rather than simply giving him cash, I use the money to purchase necessary supplies, pay for caregiving and other services, and cover expenses directly related to his well-being. Our connection to donors: Over the years, Ross and I have shared our friendship and everyday experiences through social media, particularly TikTok and Instagram. Through these videos, hundreds of thousands of people have gotten to know Ross, his military service, his personality, and the special bond we have developed over the past two decades. Many of our donors are followers who have watched our videos and wanted to support Ross. Others include friends, family, and people who have discovered his story through our social media community. We share the fundraiser through our social media platforms to give those who wish to help an opportunity to contribute voluntarily. Purpose of the fundraiser: The purpose of this fundraiser is not for personal financial gain. It is to ensure Ross receives the care, comfort, and support he deserves during this stage of his life. Our family has taken on the responsibility of caring for him because we love him and consider him one of our own. As his needs increase, so do the expenses associated with providing him with a safe and comfortable home. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of everyone who has supported Ross.
