Help Me Help Hedgehogs — Support My Wildlife Vet Placement

Hi! I’m Sabrina, a veterinary student with a passion for wildlife medicine — and I need your help to take the next step toward my dream career.

This summer, I’ve been lucky enough to secure a placement with *Prickles and Paws Hedgehog Rescue* in Cornwall — a dedicated wildlife rescue that specializes in the care, rehabilitation, and release of native British hedgehogs.

The opportunity is a huge stepping stone for me. I’ll be getting hands-on experience with everything from basic health checks and claw clipping to fecal sampling and even (fingers crossed!) hand-rearing orphaned hoglets. I’ll also be learning the ins and outs of wildlife hygiene, husbandry, and biosecurity — all skills that will shape my future as a wildlife vet.

But here’s the catch: the placement is unpaid, and I’m responsible for my own living costs while I’m there. That includes accommodation, travel, and food — and as a student, that adds up fast.

That’s why I’m asking for your support. Any donation, big or small, will help me cover my costs and make the most of this incredible learning experience. You won’t just be supporting me — you’ll be helping support a rescue whose mission is to protect one of the UK’s most iconic (and vulnerable) wild animals.
