Join Braxton's Fight Against Aplastic Anemia

Donation protected
On December 25th 2023 the evening of Christmas Day. Our family started living an episode of House. A nightmare. The baby boy who gave me the title of Mimi and made my a baby girl a mommy and Brock a daddy was admitted to the hospital with jaundice and liver enzymes indicating liver failure. From this point on our family has been battling this nightmare to find out what’s going on with our little athlete, hunter and all around healthy boy. With no answers in site. First it was suspected Wilson’s disease a very rare genetic disorder that attacks the liver . And then the diagnosis of Evan’s disease another rare disorder attacking the blood cells and not allowing for platelet’s to form. Leaving us with the knowledge that Braxton’s body was no longer making its own cells. During Braxtons latest stay at OHSU his hematology team decided it was time to test his bone marrow by way of a bone marrow biopsy. On Monday April 8th the results of a bone marrow biopsy was received and A diagnoses have been given. One we have all been hoping and praying would not come. Braxton has a very rare disorder called Aplastic anemia 1 out of 2 million people in the United States are diagnosed with this rare blood disorder. After meeting with his new team of BMT doctors they have determined Braxton will undergo a bone marrow transplant. But until then he will need at least 1-2 trips a week to the hospital for infusions and transfusion’s they may or may not have to be done in Portland but it is a possibility. His siblings will be tested as they are most likely the closest match. Colby just 7 years old and Brooklynn 4. If neither of them are a positive match they will move towards the donor data base. Once a donor is achieved Braxton will start chemotherapy to prep his body for the transplant. We want to thank everyone who has reached out and are willing to get tested. Braxton has been on a long road already and has a long ways to go. Brock and Chelsea will be out of work often and for extended amounts of time. Traveling 1-2 times weekly and eventually having an extended stay as Braxton will need to be within 25 min to the hospital. When preparing for the transplant. We have a village already but their is always room for more. Brock and Chels will be working closely with a social worker to help make things as smooth as possible. Braxton does have insurance and as everyone knows there are several hoops to jump before they actually help. All funds will be to help this family with traveling, food making sure that Colby and Brooklynn have what they need and a peace of mind! Heaven forbid any obstacle get in the way.
