Hi, my name is John and I am 43 years old. In 2021, I was diagnosed with stage 5 renal failure, also known as end-stage kidney disease. I have been on dialysis three times a week for four hours each session for the last five years. I am in the process of getting a kidney and pancreas transplant. The transplant center is in Tampa, Florida, which is over 100 miles from my home.

After the surgery, I will be in the hospital for five days to recover. From that point, I am required to stay in Tampa for six weeks for monitoring my recovery. my husband and dogs will be staying by my side through this process. There is no feasible way of doing this without support from the community, family and friends. I am on social security disability which pays for my monthly bills.
