John’s Emergency Appendectomy

Hi! I am Carla and mother of two wonderful children Grace and John Buonocore. On January 16th 2024 my son John became very sick and we thought he had a stomach virus. By Wednesday 1/17 we were in the emergency room at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. It is there we found out that John’s appendix needed to be removed and we were transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Egelston. On 1/18 John’s appendix was removed but it had ruptured in the process. We are currently still in the hospital and have not received a discharge date as John continues to fight the infection that is still in his body. I am a single mom raising two young adults, their father passed away 8 1/2 years ago. I have currently been out of work for a week and it is looking like I will miss another week of work once we are home to take care of him. I am not one to ask for help but I know that the small community we live in can do amazing things and I can promise you I would not be posting any of this if I thought I could handle everything by myself. If you feel the need to help out our little family get back on our feet while I care for my son I can promise you every little bit will be going to keep our household running.
