Hello All,
I’m sure many of you have heard of the fires in California. Here are the basics on the “Camp Fire” which is currently burning through Northern California. At the time of this posting, the fire has consumed 140,000 acres and is still burning. The fire has destroyed the town of Paradise, CA with current reports of almost 12,000 structures destroyed. It has become California’s deadliest fire in history.
My mom lived in Paradise. Luckily, she was able to evacuate and is physically alright. However, due to the speed of the fire going through Paradise no one, including her, had much time to evacuate. She was able to get out of harm’s way with only a small bag of belongings. Cal Fire is in the process of assessing structure damages. By their reports, my mom confirmed that her house and belongings are gone. She has insurance, but with so many families being impacted they are telling her that it might be a while before she is able to receive assistance from them.
The purpose of this page is not to raise money to replace her home or belongings. This is an effort to ease the financial sting in meeting her immediate needs. Escaping with the clothes on her body and a small bag, she is in need of warm clothes, food, and basic personal amenities. She is fortunate to have great friends in Chico to stay with. However, being on a fixed income she is struggling to meet her basic needs now while she waits for financial relief in the wake of this ongoing disaster. Please consider helping my mother; even a couple of dollars will help immensely.
These are extremely hard times not only for my mom but for the entire community impacted by the Camp Fire. Please, if you are able to help there are many more who could use assistance. The following are funds set up to meet the immediate and long-term needs of the community:
The North Valley Community Foundation
