In March of 2016 Jerry and Meg's lives changed forever when Jerry was diagnosed with Stage III Colon Cancer. This type of news is enough to crush ones spirit and pull people apart but those that know these two were not surprised that they took it as a challenge that brought a loving couple even closer together for the battle.
The road began with a temporary colostomy to save Jerry's life and the terror known as Chemo from April to July. I've never seen someone go through Chemo but a survivor recently described the ordeal- this tested Jerry's spirit both mentaly and phsycally while Meg's heart broke as she outwardly displayed nothing but resolve and positvity throughout. Next was the surgery to remove the tumor only to be back in the operating room the next day for emergency repair of a blown blood vessel. Next came follow up Radiation and Chemo(Post-op being worse then pre-op) ending in November 2016 and road to recovery began...
Unfortunately, the recovery was short lived with the devastating news that the tumor had returned in April of 2016. After weighing all options, a grueling 12 hour surgery took place in July 2017 at Sloan Kettering NYC. This appeared to take care of the remaining cancer but it was a difficult couple of months until Jerry was getting around better, color returned to his face, and he started to putting some healthy weight back on.
On December 5th Jerry was scheduled for a Hernia Surgery but things didn't seem right. The doctor ordered a CT Scan only to learn that the cancer has overtaking 50% of his liver, his spleen, and his right abdomen....Jerry only has 6 months or less...hospice care has begun...Two positive souls now need all the help and support they can get.
Anything you can spare will go toward past Medical Bills, Hospice Care, final expenses and, most importantly, lost wages for the time Meg needs to spend with her love. Thank you so much for your support!
