Hello Everybody-

I am speaking on behalf of Jeffrey David Grisham. My name is Melinda Grisham and I am writing this plea for donations to help fund Jeffrey’s Celebration of Life service and to financially assist his family after his unexpected and sudden death.

Jeffrey died the morning of August 28, 2021 approximately around 7:00-7:30 am after preparing for a community garage sale. The last time I spoke to him was 6:45am when he called me down to help him out because he wasn’t feeling too well. He managed to get upstairs by himself without wanting my help. I tended to the sale in progress and soon thereafter I had a buyer asking about a dining room table. I called ‘Jeffrey ‘. No response. I went to our room only to find him lifeless, cold and pale. I started CPR immediately while Cambria called 911 for help. Firemen arrived along with OC deputies. They were unable to revive him and he was not responding to medical resuscitation therapies. The Coroner’s assistant came to take Jeffrey away for an autopsy. We still await the Coroner’s report for cause of death.

As a family, we are ALL heartbroken and saddened with Jeffrey’s sudden loss. It was only one week since Jeffrey had celebrated his 61st birthday on August 21, 2021. We had a weekend full of food, festivities, and family fun. He said it was his “Best birthday celebration ever “. Now that he is gone, there is a hole in my heart that may never be filled. Cambria still tells me that she wants him back. Jacob told me that this is the hardest he’s ever cried. Please keep the Grisham family in your thoughts and prayers while I grieve the loss of my husband and Cambria & Jacob grieve the loss of their father. Furthermore, we want to thank everyone who has reached out with all their love and support.

With such a sudden and unexpected death we were also caught off guard financially. Jeffrey was the primary breadwinner and with my transition to a prosthetic after my left lower leg amputation, I am unable to work full-time for the next few months. During this time, our finances have been tight, and we’ve been unable to save a cushion for emergencies such as this. Furthermore, until the death certificate has a definitive cause of death, life insurance policies will not be disbursed. We are really caught between a rock and a hard place and don’t have many places to turn. Any donation you can send along is much appreciated to help us cover the costs of Jeffrey’s Celebration if Life and to help tide us over until the life insurance can carry us.
