Janie's Recovery & Expenses

Hi friends and family! We have been overwhelmed with the love and support you have shown Janie, Cara, and Hunter during the last few weeks. We appreciate each of your prayers and know they are being heard. Several of you have reached out and asked if we had a GoFundMe or other way that you could help donate. Cara and Hunter are the type to never ask for help but we know they greatly need it during this time.

For those of you who have followed along or are unsure of the latest update on Janie - she has been running a high fever and had problems breathing since Jan 4th. After a huge spike in fever and scare on Jan 7th, ultimately she was admitted to the Children's Hospital where her CXR showed pneumonia and a pleural effusion which required a VATS procedure and a chest tube. They drained 600ccs of fluid in surgery which was a big win! The fluid culture from her lungs showed Strep A bacteria and she was positive for human metapneumovirus. They started her on IV antibiotic treatment which has not shown much improvement. She has remained on IV antibiotics and oxygen since admission. They were able to remove her chest tube successfully after a couple of days. They are continuing to monitor her closely. Right now her treatment course is Clindamycin and Rocephin in an attempt to cure the infection. She is undergoing additional scans and blood culture tests as they look for answers. Janie girl has spent 2 weeks and counting battling this awful sickness and we hope and pray for more answers and clarity soon.

With Hunter in medical school and Cara on unpaid leave as she is out of PTO – we know they will be eternally grateful for any support and help you can offer. Your prayers and support have meant the world to them during this extremely challenging time. We are hopeful that sweet Janie girl will smile and play again soon.
