James Snyder - Funeral Costs

Hi, as many have learned already, our father, James L Snyder died unexpectedly on October 14th, 2020 while in Baton Rouge LA.
Our father was known to many people. He was especially known for his amazing sense of humor, quirky nature, being silly in any situation, and his empathy for others was unmatched.
Our dad had so much knowledge of life and actually practiced what Jesus taught. He did not care if somebody was the CEO of a fortune 500 company or a homeless woman living on the street. He would talk to them as though they had been friends for years, and it seemed no matter what city he was in people would come up and say, "Hey James." We were always left wondering how the heck he knew the person.
One such instance was while in Washington D.C our brother Matt and him were exploring the monuments. Suddenly, Matt hears a slight laugh followed by, "James?" It was an elderly lady that appeared homeless and was sitting in a cardboard like tent with supplies for protest. Her main protest board was opposing War. Our father started chatting with the lady, and you can only imagine what was going through Matt's head. How does my father know this homeless lady? So, when he was done chatting, he told him the story. Apparently, the lady was nearly a DC landmark herself and had been sitting in that spot protesting wars pointed at the Whitehouse in her tent since Vietnam. Yeah but how does she know you? I have stopped and chatted with her a few times over the years, he said. She is a real interesting lady.
Our father wished to be buried near his family and in Sunset Hill Cemetery, near his brother, sister, and mother. With a very generous gift from somebody especially important to him he does have a plot in the cemetery. However, because our dad died, unexpectedly, so far from home we are now faced with the exceedingly high cost to return his body to New York
We wished we did not have to ask, but we do ask that James's friends and family, our friends, and the people whose lives were made better by him please assist us in covering that Cost. Any amount is helpful, and if by chance we receive more than we need it will be donated, in our dad's name, to a charity that helps feed the poor and the homeless.
