Who is Scott Watzlawick?
Scott Watzlawick is a son, father, brother, cousin, friend, small business owner, patriot, and involved community member. He's a man that would go out of his way to help others and raise money for worthy causes. He's kind, caring, and would stop at nothing to help those he loves within his family and community. Those of us fortunate enough to call him family (blood or not) are blessed to have him in our lives. He's been there when we needed him, even if it's just the random message to tell us he's thinking of us. Scott is just a great person who was dealt some bad cards this last month or so and needs our help.

What Happened:

For the last month Scott has been having severe aches and pains, feeling very fatigued, not eating, drinking a lot of water. His family had been trying to get him to go in and see the doctor but with the pandemic going on he had decided to wait, and was going to just go when things had calmed down.

On Wednesday (5/13/2020) he started with sharp, debilitating stomach pain that had gotten had so bad that he was unable to walk, keep his eyes open, or even drive. His family took him to the hospital where they performed tests and determined that he has diabetes.

After Scott was prescribed his medications and materials, they were told to take him home, have him rest, then bring him back Thursday (5/14/2020) for an appointment in the afternoon. Then they would learn things that they needed to do such as test his blood sugar, give insulin injections, and diet changes.

So, Scott's family took him home and did as the doctors asked. Throughout the night his pain became increasingly more severe.

Thursday afternoon finally arrived, and Scott returned to the doctor to learn about his injections, etc. Before the doctors were even able to begin demonstrating insulin injections, Scott's pain erupted. He became incoherent and unable to maintain consciousness. The doctor then informed the family that Scott was being transferred to another hospital where he would undergo an immediate CAT scan to determine what exactly was happening.

After Scott's CAT scan the doctors informed his daughter that not only did he have a large mass on his liver, but has perforated diverticulitis (ruptured intestine) as well. All of this in addition to diabetes.

They immediately admitted Scott to the hospital and informed his daughter that they would most likely need to take him to emergency surgery.

After meeting with the surgeon, it was determined that the mass on his liver was too large, infection filled, and concerning for them to go in right away like they were hoping; they would need to figure out what it was first. The doctor placed Scott on an insulin push, heavy sedative/pain medications and heavy antibiotics.

Friday (5/16/2020) the doctors set an external drain in his liver to drain the abscess so they can better plan surgical options. Scott's daughter has been staying at the hospital with him because he was not coherent enough to respond on his own; someone had to be present for the consultations with the surgeons and doctors.

On Sunday (5/17/2020) Scott began to become more awake and able to respond to people. However, he is not out of the woods just yet, his liver is still draining, and he is still in the hospital without a projected release date.

Once the abscess on his liver has drained enough, the doctors can start talking about possible surgery options for the perforated diverticulitis.

Treatment Plan:
For now, he stays in the hospital. He will at the very least require intestinal surgery.

How will your donations help?
This money will go toward Scott's medical expenses. They may not cover all of them, but every little bit helps.

Please find it in your heart to help Scott... he truly deserves it.
