If you know the Lucas family like I do, you know these are selfless, sincere and giving people who always put others before themselves. Whether it's the countless years of town baseball or just being there for someone when they need help. Now imagine being someone SO immersed in family and community and having one of those you love the most, your son, have to battle a very scary procedure like this. I simply can't imagine how you deal with something so frightening but at least we can help relieve some stress of the medical bills that have come their way. I love this family as many of you do. Please do what you can to help! Here is a little bit about Jacob's situation. God Bless!
Jacob was born with Severe Aortic stenosis. The stenosis was caught right at birth and Jacob underwent his first surgery Angioplasty at 4 days old. He has been seen several times a year since to monitor the Aortic Stenosis. During a Visit in April of 2018 It was determined that the Stenosis was getting worse and he would need a surgery to correct.
So This brings us to the next chapter in his life. June 27th , Jacob will undergo a valve replacement surgery. This will improve his heart function, by making his valve much more efficient.
He is expected to stay in the hospital for 7-10 days after surgery, followed by a 8 -12 week recovery at home. This is the help we are looking for.
Even with insurance, we are looking at multiple co-payments a bill of $5000 (maximum out of pocket). In addition to this, the recovery after surgery poses issues as well. We are trying to raise money to allow at least one of us to be able to stay home and care for him. FMLA is great for getting time from work, but it is unfortunately unpaid. We are hoping that we can personally stay home with him, instead of needing lots of help from friends and relatives.
Thank you for whatever help you can give. All money will be set aside for Jacobs care. Jacob still faces a lifetime of cardiologist care - including more MRI'S, echos, and the possibility of another valve replacement in the future.
