Jace's Wish: A Van for Independence

This is Jace, a 10-year-old boy fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Jace was born with DMD, and we didn’t find out till he was 5 years old. Jace sees a combination of doctors in Nashville, TN, for his rare disease. As we live 4 and 1/2 hours away from Nashville, TN, we have to drive pretty often to see his DMD doctors there. He needs better transportation for a handicap vehicle as Jace’s parents struggle lifting him everywhere we go, and his wheelchair is very heavy. Jace’s wish is to get the freedom he deserves by getting a handicapped van soon. It will make life so much more enjoyable for Jace as he is on this journey with DMD. It’s hard to enjoy what others like to do; Jace does it in a different way by being in a wheelchair. A simple walk in the park or a drive to the grocery store with mom is challenging as his wheelchair is his legs. He stopped walking at 8 years old and has depended on a wheelchair since. So, Jace’s wish is to get him into a very dependable handicapped van so he can be free and independent as he should be and not have to struggle to be placed in and out of the van we are dealing with now.
