My mom has a pacemaker that was implanted in 2007. You're supposed to get the battery replaced at the max by 10 years and it's been over 12 years. Due to the American insurance system and our family's income, we cannot afford surgery. My mother has fibromyalgia as well. Due to her pacemaker on its last legs, my mother is having shortness of breath and chest pains. She hasn't reached brachycardia yet but it was one of the main diagnosing factors.
