Abbie's Cochlear Implant Surgery
Don protégé
In 2010, Abbie had her first Cochlear Implant surgery on the left ear. After hours of waiting for the surgery to be completed the doctor came out and told us it was a success. It was textbook perfect! She was finally able to hear things she had never heard before with her hearing aids. From her grades improving drastically to being able to pick out her favorite radio host, Bo Matthew's, voice, things changed for the better! It has now been 7 years since she received her first CI surgery on the left and has worn a hearing aid on the right. She explained it's a little difficult to understand certain things when wearing both because it isn't an equal sound. After two years of careful consideration and lots of Q&A from those who already have double CI's, she has decided she wants to go ahead with the second surgery. The surgical process will include having the right side done while also updating the system for the left side. After surgery will come speech/language therapy. So, this is where you all come in. We need help covering our cost for surgery plus the cost of the speech/ language therapy. Her surgery is scheduled for June 20, 2017. Any amount donated is very much appreciated. Our parents, Joe and Connie Keil, sisters, Leanne Hampton, Abbie Keil as well as myself would thank you for taking the time to read her story and thank you for your support! God Bless!
