Our Lady of the Lake Kitchen Rehab

The Parish Center of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church has long served as a community setting for people to come together. Functions range from church dinners to community events such as Loaves and Fishes, a program designed to provide a hot meal for area residents in need throughout the winter months, and the annual Jesus was Homeless Thanksgiving meal. As years passed, the once sufficient Center became badly in need of renovation and enlargement to continue to efficiently meet the needs of the community. We are a small parish of only 500 registered families so thus began several years of fundraising efforts.

Through the hard work of parishioners and the generosity of the many “parishioners for a day” who supported fundraising efforts while visiting Our Lady of the Lake, a major accomplishment was made this year. Funds were finally deemed sufficient to move forward with the renovation of the Center. Plans were developed and bids were solicited for the project. However, as bids were returned, it became apparent that the cost of the renovation will exceed what was anticipated. This is largely due to the age of the Center. As with any construction project, unexpected expenses come about the farther into the project one goes but this is particularly true with a building that is more than forty years old. Additionally, new building codes are now in place with more requirements than ever. Although we have raised sufficient funds to complete a majority of the project, we will need additional money to complete it.

Renovation will begin this month as planned, with a projected completion date of April 2015.  However, your help is needed to completely fund the project. It is by the grace of God and the giving hearts of many that we are blessed to reach this point. We are so close but we need a little extra help to take us across the finish line and see our efforts come to complete fruition.
