ISLAMIC FUNERAL FUND - INDONESIANS LIVING IN UK&I

The Islamic funeral cost in the UK is increasing, and can currently range from £2,000 to £5,000** depending on:

• the funeral director used;

• where the deceased lived; and

• the cemetery chosen

The funeral cost is seldom affordable, and thus burial is often delayed. This contradicts the following hadith, whereby burials must be arranged immediately and without delay:

Narrated Abu Huraira,

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Hurry up with the dead body for if it was righteous, you are forwarding it to welfare; and if it was otherwise, then you are putting off an evil thing down your necks." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

Based on the above, Rumah Dakwah UK (RDUK), insyaaAllah, is arranging a crowdfund amounting to £4,500 to cover the funeral costs of Indonesians living in the UK & Ireland, whose families cannot afford part of the cost (or the total). This is to secure an immediate burial for Indonesian Muslims who have passed away, in accordance with the sunnah of the Prophet (ﷺ).

After the funeral, RDUK will arrange another crowdfund. This is to cover the amount spent on the last funeral and ensure that the total funeral fund is kept to the level of £4,500, ready to be utilised whenever required.

As Muslims, we are obliged to follow the sunnah of the Prophet (ﷺ). May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala reward your contributions towards this cause, aamiin ya Robbal’alamin.

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "(A believer) who accompanies the funeral procession of a Muslim out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's reward and remains with it till the funeral prayer is offered and the burial ceremonies are over, he will return with a reward of two Qirats. Each Qirat is like the size of the (Mount) Uhud. He who offers the funeral prayer only and returns before the burial, will return with the reward of one Qirat only." (Sahih al-Bukhari)
