Hi my name is Alicia, and I lost a close friend due to bullying/suicide in August 2016. Her name was Isabella Scott and she wasn't just an amazing person but she was an amazing friend. No one would have ever expected her to commit suicide considering she was such an energetic person, had an amazing family, was always the light in the room, and played so many sports. Isabella and I were on a softball team called The Dream Team, her mom Lilly was our coach. We won the Little League Championship that year. It is still one of my best memories of Izzy.

After losing a close friend I found out I wasn't the only person who has experienced this type of loss, and Izzy isn't the only one being bullied. This has to stop and I want to help!!!

About 30,000 children stay home everyday in the U.S because they are afraid of being bullied at school. 17% of students experience cyber bullying, 41% experience physical bullying, and 15% experience different kinds. Bullied victims are twice as likely to expirience depression, sleep difficulties, anxiety, and trouble adjusting to school. 16% of students consider suicide seriously, 13% create a plan, and 8% make a serious attempt. Suicide is now the third leading cause of death in the U.S and and estimate of about 4,400 people every year die due to suicide. A study taken by Yale university shows that bullied victims are 7-9% more likely to consider suicide. The point of all of this is that it is a REAL problem. We need to create a better environment. We need to create awareness for these problems. I was motivated to do this as part of a school assignment. I am holding multiple bake sales
and selling bracelets to honor and remember Izzy.
