Seth's medical expenses

I just wanted to say I hate asking for help.  Both me and my husband usually can handle things pretty well even though we do struggle financially on a day to day basis.  Paycheck to paycheck, and not always paying our bills on time due to lack of money but we were still able to handle it.   However, we had a rough couple of years that is now out of our control financially.   Our son Seth is two and we have some medical expenses to pay off for him.  We were originally in $20,000 in debt for medical bills for him.  The bills we have yet to pay off is when he was born, than a surgery to remove his sixth finger on each hand, and than he had a horrible accident late last year for pulling a pot of soup on himself off of a stove from the sitters house.   We managed to get his medical bills down to about $9,750 (the past couple of years we used our tax return to pay the bills since we couldn't do it through the course of the year).   Well this year, my husband got laid off...twice, making it hard to manage to pay our own bills let alone Seth's medical.   One hospital bill was at about $7,000, and we managed to get it down to $1,875.  But the hospital still turned it over to a lawfirm because we could not do a month to month payment through out the course of the year.   And since my husband got laid off the second time, the lawfirm passed judgement on us.  The remaining of the medical bills outside of the one at the lawfirm are sitting in collections (the remaining of the $8,000).  The sad part is this is with medical insurance.  All we just want to get them paid off and fix our credit score so we can get  home one day.   My husband and I both work very hard but just to make ends meet.    Once again it is hard to ask for help.  I hate asking for help because I feel there are so many more people in need than just us.  I was thinking about bankruptcy but I refuse to go that route because that would mean all the hard work we did was for nothing.   But now I finally decided to ask for help even though it is through here.  Help us get by a little more if you can.   We appreciate it, we just need enough to pay off these collections for medical.    Thank you, we will be forever grateful.
