INADR Int'l Law School Mediation Tournament
Don protégé
Here is a little life update no one asked for: I am finishing my fourth year at Grace College, but my second post-high school graduation (as if that makes it any better). I am double majoring in Political Science and French, with a minor in Pre Law. The French major is new, as I discovered it allows me to study abroad in Dijon! (so expect another letter summer of 2024). Somehow, I have managed to fill every waking second with fun opportunities, multiple jobs, and plenty of responsibilities. Friends come and go but a degree is forever (haha). This year was special because I was president of our mediation team – think mock trial but negotiation between the parties and no judge. We had a record-breaking season (which you probably already know), and I personally brought home six first-place awards across three undergraduate tournaments. Due to our teams' success, we were invited to the 2023 INADR International Law School Mediation Tournament! Our small team of four will be spending 13 days in ITALYYYYY, four of which we will spend in competition with law students from all over the world. The tournament takes place in Bologna, however, throughout the trip we will travel to Florence, Pisa, Venice, the Dolomites, and hopefully Rome (I KNOW!!!). Unfortunately, the Italian economy seems to be thriving (slay) so the exchange rate does not favor the US dollar, and Grace College spent all its money on the MOCC athletic complex. So, here I am asking for financial assistance like a first-world middle-class Oliver Twist. “Please sir, I want some more”. Between Grace College School of Arts and Sciences generously helping us fund part of the trip, and Student Senate pitching in some extra funds, I now just need to find $2,500. I’ve looked in all the couch cushions, but no luck. So, any and all pocket change is appreciated.
Warmly,
Sydney
