In The Pink Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Programme
Wing Walking why Not!!!
150 mph,3000ft,hanging on for my life&praying that we don’t hit any turbulence.
I’ve chosen to challenge myself & fundraise for the C..A.R.S/‘In The Pink’ Cancer Rehabilitation programme by doing a ‘Wing Walk’ on 16/08/2024.(i will be self funding my WingWalk so every penny I raise go directly to the charity).
WHY.
To raise funds to enable others going through breast cancer diagnosis and treatments to access the ‘In ThePink ‘Rehabilitation programme through Cancer Active Recovery Support.(C.A.R.S).Having experienced the incredibly positive impact of the programme I know it provides ideal support at such a critical time when treatment concludes and when recovery really begins.
WHY WING WALKING?
WHY THE HELL NOT!!!
If you can donate, your support would help me to help others benefit from ‘In The Pink Rehabilitation Programme’.
My Story.
In December 2021,I was diagnosed with breast cancer just as the second lockdown of four weeks ended during the Covid Pandemic and as England returned to a stricter three-tier system of restrictions.
This was a difficult time for everyone and many like myself were enduring a completely unexpected cancer diagnosis.Which was worryingly uncertain and very isolating experience.
Following surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy,Herceptin injections and the prospect of 10 years of hormone therapy.I found myself very low both physically and mentally.
I felt very lonely and frustrating angry which was further compounded by the inability to see and cuddle my recently born granddaughter.I had to dig deep to get through this horrible period of my life.
Throughout this my family and friends were very supportive during my cancer journey and I can’t thank them all enough.
I had personally found my hair loss during chemotherapy very dramatic.I was extremely conscious of my body and how I looked in my clothes and this greatly affected my self-esteem and confidence.I did receive some counselling but just couldn’t climb out of the dark place I found myself in.
Then I read an article in the Hinckley Times about a programme called”InThe Pink”specifically created to help Breast Cancer patients like myself. This service helps to rebuild lives by improving confidence, self esteem and regain their strength after surgery .Plus,it was in my local community not in the hospital!
In May 2023 I was given the opportunity to participate in ‘In The Pink’…..and I have been ‘IN THE PINK’ ever since!
At the point of finding In The Pink I was completely lost. The rehabilitation programme has given me so much..new friends, who I remain in contact with, the enjoyment I now have from being much more active and bounds of positive energy. The confidence I gained from trying new activities, not always being good at them, but having a bash with other like minded people. The joy I get from embracing life again with my mantra Make Every Moment Matter.
Every-time I see the colour pink it makes me smile and brings me so much joy in my heart. This is why I want to do something crazy and give something back to them,to keep the C.A.R.S. Charity and their ‘In The PInk Program going.
if you can, your support would be much appreciated, help me to help others to be ‘In The Pink’.
Thank you in advance for your donations.
