Javier Mendez was a devoted husband, proud father and an extremely hard worker who took care of his family. Everyone who Javier met, is quick to recall his positive attitude, upbeat personality, willingness to help others, and solid work ethic. Javier was just 58 years old when he passed away. He would always tell everyone that he was 32 years old because that is how old he felt. Javier was vibrant and full of energy. He loved life and his family. His family meant the world to him. Javier was a husband and a father of 2 young girls. The night before his passing, he was able to have his last meal, with his loving family.
Unexpectedly, Javier was found unresponsive by his wife around 5 am. He was given CPR for more than 2 hours, once sustained, he was rapidly taken via ambulance to the hospital. Javier was immediately admitted to the hospital and was placed into ICU. He was diagnosed as being in critical condition. Javier’s rib cage was fractured and one of his lungs was punctured and unresponsive. He could not breathe on his own and was placed on multiple life-sustaining machines.
After several hours, the doctors presented the family with devastating news. Javier was brain dead and would not be conscious again. The ultimate call had to be made. The family was given no choice but to release Javier from the life-sustaining machines because the machines would ultimately not resuscitate him. The family decided to abide with the wishes of Javier if he were to ever be in this situation, which was to release him and allow him to rest easy.
The Mendez family’s trauma and sorrow are immeasurable. Prayers are truly needed for the Mendez family at this time. A loss of a husband and a father is unimaginable, and the manner of his passing has been unbearable for the family. Due to the sudden nature of Javier’s hospitalization and death, the cost of day-to-day living plus planning even the simplest funeral is too much for the Mendez family to financially endure at this time. The funds from this campaign will be used to help with the cremation process of Javier and to assist the family with household expenses.
