On July 10, 2017, Varanda Maria Brinkley passed away unexpectedly from an unknown cause.  An amazing mother, loving daughter and sister, awesome aunt and grandmother, a loyal friend, a caring therapist, humanitarian, activist for change and a champion of youth, Varanda touched the lives of everyone that knew her. Always one to offer an encouraging word, lend a helping hand or listening ear, Varanda was truly loved and will be sorely missed. Her sudden and untimely death has left the family without the means to give her a proper send off deserving of the remarkable woman she was. 


Always putting others before her self, even when she was sick or struggling, she never complained or asked for much.  Even as she mourned the death of her mother Mary Louise Brinkley,  three years ago, Varanda went back to school to pursue her master's degree in Occupational Therapy and was optimistic about starting a new business venture and non-profit with her children at the time of her death.



Family and friends are still in shock and reeling from her loss. They are asking for donations to help with the stress of funeral costs and unexpected expenses.  Any amount is greatly appreciated and would help tremendously as the family works through unforeseen issues involving her life insurance policy. 

The viewing will be held at James H. Cole Funeral Home with services held at Oakland Church of Christ.  Dates and times to be announced.
