Celebrating Chris Okonek

A Yellowstone family member, Chris Okonek passed away on Friday , March 8th after incurring fatal injuries from a fall. Chris worked summers as a fishing guide on Lake Yellowstone and a Snowcoach guide/driver in the winter.

Those of you in Gardiner would have often seen him walking up the Jardine road in his bright orange jacket.

Chris was a cherished son, brother, spouse, father, uncle, cousin, friend, and coworker. He loved the outdoors: fishing, hiking, camping, and skiing every chance possible. He touched the lives of those around him with his humor and kindness. Chris's sudden departure leaves a void that will be profoundly felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

We are sharing this Go Fund Me page to assist his wife Jill James and Chris’ family with medical bills and travel costs.

Funds raised that exceed these bills will be donated to the American Red Cross and our local Gardiner Gateway Hose Co.
