In Loving Memory of Gucci Shah

Gucci is our baby, our best friend, and brought so much love into our lives. She was the happiest, bravest soul we knew, filling every day with laughter, the biggest tail wags, slobbery kisses, and excited jumps whenever she saw the people she loved (which was pretty much everyone she met). Even when she was sick, she never stopped smiling, wagging her tail, and loving everyone around her unconditionally. Gucci also loved the water and was truly our little water baby. Swimming was one of her happiest places.

On Monday, March 9, we lost Gucci to a colon tumor. Losing her has left an unimaginable hole in our hearts. To honor her memory and the joy she brought us, we want to help other animals and families facing similar pain.

In her memory, we will be doing one of her favorite things: swimming. We will be swimming from San Francisco to Alcatraz in May to raise funds for canine cancer research through the Animal Cancer Foundation, which advances research to prevent, treat, and cure cancer in both animals and humans. About 1 in 4 dogs will develop cancer during their lifetime (see: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11025767/). Through this swim and fundraiser, we hope to support research so that fewer families have to say goodbye too soon.
