Ilona has been living and working along us in the Bow Valley for many years. She worked at the Mineral Springs Hospital as a clerk and team leader. Ilona was then recruited to work alongside of one of our surgeons as his office manager for a tenure just shy of twenty years. Upon his retirement, Ilona ventured out on her own as a quite thorough billing agent for many of our Banff/Canmore physicians.

She lives in Lac des Arcs with her husband Ernie, 14 year old son Rhys, and their dog Trusty. Many of you know Ernie, who retired a few years ago as a paramedic with Banff EMS.

As some of you may know, Ilona was recently faced with devastating news after presenting to the hospital with abdominal pain. Although her exact diagnosis nor prognosis are yet known, she is determined to put up a fight no matter what may come. As she is navigating through these extremely difficult times attending appointments, planning treatments with the Tom Baker Cancer Clinic, battling pain and nausea, while still being there for her family, she has been suddenly left with no income for the foreseeable future.

To ease some of this financial burden, her dear friend Gaye Gaillard and I have decided to start this fundraiser. All funds will go to Ilona and her family.
