Dear Friends and Family,
I am pursuring a truly amazing opportunity to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain. In the fall I will be attending the University of Barcelona where the tuition cost is only $5,200 a year and room and board is only $360 a month, with the total cost of living and education being $15,086. This is compared to an in-state college in North Carolina that would cost $18,234 in total. I will be covering all my living expenses and my parents have covered my initial tuition fee.
The university has a world renowned business program where I would work towards a major in international business. Getting an international business degree in a foreign country has numerous advantages, especially in our ever-globalizing job market. The University of Barcelona has been ranked the #1 university in Spain and 83rd in the world.
For my first year abroad I will be attending a Spanish culture and language course where I will improve upon my Spanish and learn about what exactly it is that I will be doing. I have already completed 4 years of Spanish and will be taking it to the next level. This is a complete immersion into a new culture. This program is necessary for the transition to the Business department. After my first year in Barcelona it only gets cheaper. Attached is a document clearly comparing all of my expenses. The business program I will be attending after this first year program is only $70 a year and by that point I will be able to take out loans for myself with a foreigner ID number that comes along with my visa, if needed. I have created this campaign in part because it will not be possible for me to recieve federal loans for an international education and I will not be doing this through a study abroad program, which would actually result in a ton more expenses. This summer I plan to raise at least $2,000 for my living expenses.
Any amount would be so greatly appreciated. There is no specific deadline but the sooner the better because I also have to apply for a student visa and create travel plans. Attached here are the itemized expenses. Please do not feel obligated to donate. I am simply doing this because I feel as though I should try to achieve this goal through every way possible. Any support I recieve through this campaign I intend to give back to this planet.
This is a step in life I truly believe would get me to where I need to be and put me on a path towards a bright future. Anything helps and I can't put into words how grateful I already am just to have this opportunity. Thank you!
