I am a 30 yr old mother to 4 young children. I was diagnosed in January with a rare aggressive form of thyroid cancer. Local doctors have only seen one case of my type here, so my oncologist immediately referred me to MD Anderson in Houston. I currently go to MDA every 3 months for tests and monitoring. My last trip was in September. I still have cancer in my neck and was told that I will always have cancer in my body. As you can imagine, these trips are very costly. Not to mention, the fact that I will have multiple surgeries in the future and more rounds of radiation. My illness and the side effects of no longer having a thyroid have left me unable to work. My husband is a wonderful man but he is left to support a household of 6. We fear another surgery is coming soon and we are unsure how we can manage to pay for it. I am asking $3000.00 right now to help pay outstanding medical bills that have recently come in. It saddens us because we will not be able to provide our children with a Christmas because 'Mommy is sick'.
