Abby's treatment and battle against rare cancer

This fundraiser is for my amazing sister, Abby Herberger, and for our family, in our attempt to support her and ensure that she gets the best treatment possible.


After Abby started experiencing increased pain in March from a pre-existing back problem, my family and I eventually recieved horrible news. What started as mild to moderate pain and discomfort, suddenly quickly escalated in severity to the point that she became unable to care for herself, support her body weight when sitting, or walk without a walker. The pain was so bad, despite being on multiple medications, that Abby screamed, and cried and begged for help and for the pain to stop.

All of this occurred while Abby was trying to stay strong and wait for a new patient appointment with a rheumatologist. She couldn't hold out and ended up in the emergency room. After completing testing, the doctors gave us the horrible news that we never wanted to hear. They told us that Abby has an extremely rare kind of cancer that has metatasized and become incurable. There is no tumor that can be surgically removed.

We don't understand how this could have ever happened to such a sweet, pure hearted person. For over a year before any of this began, she'd been motivated, making lifestyle changes, and doing what she can to better herself and live more of the life she wanted. Now she is immobile from her condition, and we're looking at a scary situation and any treatments that could help her. We're terrified and feel helpless, but we want to be there for her through this and afford her the best treatment options to fight it that the world has to offer.
