About the Film:
The title of this film is ironic. How to Love leads the audience to believe this is a normal love story.
It is. It is a normal love story for people breaking generational trauma and not wavering down to a
loveless relationship, which a lot of older Asian Americans find themselves in. How to Love is unique in the fact that it features the pain and struggles of Asian American people, and their desire for doing normal things.
Asian Americans are culturally expected to be model minorities in American society; there is a high demand for them to be perfect, submissive, and never need help. This concept was developed to weaponize the black and brown community, but it also harms Asian Americans in the process, allowing them to enforce these cultural expectations onto themselves.
How To Love's protagonist, being Asian American, is learning that her life is not perfect. Being a minority, she is given only a small community that can relate to her, so she feels as if she must do everything herself. This is until she realizes that the abuse she experienced is too much to handle, and she must break her own expectations from herself. She must let herself be vulnerable and do something she has never done: reach out for help so she can learn how to love.

Why You Should Support Young Creatives:
Donating to How To Love can have a significant impact on the future of the film industry. By supporting aspiring filmmakers, you are helping to provide them with the resources they need to bring their creative visions to life. These students are working on a tight budget, and any contribution can make a meaningful difference in the quality and success of their project. Additionally, donating to How To Love can help to diversify the voices and perspectives represented in the industry, as this project focuses on underrepresented communities and issues. By donating to How To Love, you are not only supporting the future of the film industry but also helping to promote greater inclusivity and diversity in storytelling.
