Hounds of Huntsville

I started this several months ago and said it would be on a case to case as needed. Today we have a major medical need. Of the 8 pups and dogs that  we have rescued in the last 6 months we have found  GREAT homes for all except 2 shepard/lab mix ladies that are now about 8  months old. They are beautiful sisters named Luna and Sunshine. I admit I haven't had the time to network as much with everything going on for them but they have been well taken care of,  loved and fed well with your help. Unfortunately today Luna got hit by a trailer being pulled. They are both car chasers. We are on almost 13 acres but "the hunters" always cut our fence and we don't always know. The lady that accidently hit Luna picked her up and took her to her house. When we got back from a funeral we couldn't find her. We drove everywhere looking. She came and told us what happened. Phanon and I followed her to get Luna. Kaye called our wonderful vet and she met us in Madisonville at 730. Long story short Luna has a shattered back leg and is in shock. She is alert and responsive and gave me puppy kisses when I got to her. I will know  more tomorrow. She is in the hospital. She will need surgery . Dr. Denise Easterling is the bomb!!! She has helped me out so much and I love her for everything she has done. We think at this point we can save the leg with pins. They won't do surgery for a few days to let her rest while keeping her comfortable and to hopefully control clots. Her blood loss came from at least two puncture wounds on the inside of her leg where the bones snapped out and retracted. Here's why I love Dr. Denise.... Ballpark we are looking at around $700.
