HOPE, HELP AND HEALING FOR Cindy Bleuler Tucker

On June 24th, my brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Cindy Tucker, found out their final appeal to Medicare (Humana) had been denied for Cindy to stay and receive care in a skilled nursing facility. My husband and I had just visited with Cindy the day before and had left our visit in tears and our hearts broken for them for what they were facing medically and financially. After many prayers, the Lord put it on my heart to create this Go Fund Me to help bridge the gap financially and cover these out of pocket medical expenses during this difficult time.

For those of you who might not know, Cindy is paraplegic due to a spinal cord injury sustained in a car accident in 1988, and has been in a wheelchair since. She is currently bedbound, needing to be turned and repositioned every 2 hours and unable to use her wheelchair. Cindy hasn't sat up or been home since March 15, 2024. She has had 2 stays at Erlanger Medical Center and now on her second stay at Lifecare Center of East Ridge. She has undergone 4 surgeries including 2 debridement of pressure wounds, installation of a colostomy bag, and placement of a feeding tube. Cindy was diagnosed and treated for pneumonia once and sepsis twice during these hospitalizations. These times have also brought about many cognitive challenges as well as difficulty chewing and swallowing her food and constant excruciating pain.

Currently, all of the cost will be out of pocket for Tony and Cindy. She needs 24/7 skilled nursing care ($9300/month) giving her 2-3 months for her wounds to heal enough that Tony could take her home for home health to continue her care there. Ambulance transportation is required for Cindy ($300/trip) for her doctor follow-up visits monthly as needed. Her previous hospitalization bills and office copays are just now starting to arrive in the mail for payment. They have already paid $16,500 minimum out of their pockets up to July 1st. Our goal is to raise $38,000 in hopes of Cindy remaining and receiving care at LifeCare Center of East Ridge through September giving her this time to heal while covering these out of pocket expenses for them. Any funds not used at LifeCare will be used to cover medical supplies and durable medical equipment to further adapt their home for her needs when she can return.
