Operation Hope for Forrest

On June 7th, 2019, Forrest was not aware of what was going to transpire on his 85th birthday. An Air Force Veteran living in Quartzsite, AZ who had on his birthday a VA Medical Appointment to attend in Parker. Forrest, resided in his 5th Wheel Trailer along with his pet companion and due to the Arizona heat had left the A/C on for his dear pet. Unfortunately, upon his return, his home, and beloved pet were a victim to an electrical fire from the A/C unit left on during his absence. Additionally, his story would not be reached to others until later that same month.

On July 3rd, 2019, the American Red Cross, Yuma Chapter, reached out to Team Rubicon, Yuma District, to assist in supporting Forrest with any assistance possible in recovering from this home fire. Forrest's initial support was only to assist in debris removal and the disposal of his burned 5th Wheel Trailer home. A humble man that did not want to become a burden to anyone regardless of his ongoing situation. Forrest has currently been staying with his neighbor since the fire occurred and currently does not have the ability or funds to resolve this situation on his own.

Team Rubicon and American Red Cross have been able to collaborate together in providing support for Forrest. Team Rubicon assembled Volunteers from California, Phoenix, and Yuma to support on July 20, 2019, in a TR mission named "Operation Hope for Forrest" by committing to assist regardless of the Arizona heat. TR disposed of the fire damage items and was able to recover many personal items that Forrest assumed were long lost. The American Red Cross collaborated with Team Rubicon's Operation by having volunteers aid in helping in the debris removal and providing shade along with water and snacks for the volunteers. I am very thankful that Team Rubicon and the American Red Cross has been able to assits as much as they did and at no cost to Forrest.

Now, I hope to continue were these organizations have left of at by finding him a final resolution to this situation. Forrest has trusted me to get his story out in hopes to get some relief in getting himself back to a fresh start. The goal is to provide aid beyond Team Rubicon and the American Red Cross capabilities.  Therefore with your gracious donations, I hope to raise funds to cover the cost of removing his home that is a constant reminder of his loss. Then the additional support is to assist in providing the funds for a possible new home and to replenish many of his items lost in the fire.

Funding Goals:

1) $500 -I currently have a committed offer from a towing company to remove the fire-damaged 5th Wheel off the property and to dispose of it in the area of Quartzsite as they will cover the additional cost beyond that as a means to help Forrest out.

2) $3000 - Possible 5th Wheel that has been scouted for replacement home for Forrest.

3) $1500 - Cover fees for the 5th Wheel transport and registrations fees. Remaining funds for Forrest to purchase home needs to settle back in as best as possible.
