Help Darla Beat Bladder Cancer

Hi, my name is Amanda, and I’m raising funds for my beloved 15-year-old Chihuahua, Darla — the sweetest, toughest little dog you’ll ever meet.

A few weeks ago, Darla suddenly lost the ability to urinate. After rushing her to emergency care, we learned the heartbreaking news: she has a urethral obstruction caused by a tumor, later confirmed to be transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) — an aggressive form of bladder cancer.

Emergency Surgery Was Just the Start

To save her life, Darla had to undergo emergency stent placement surgery to allow her to urinate again. Thankfully, the procedure was successful, and she’s been more comfortable since.

But this is just the beginning of her battle. Her veterinary team at NC State has determined that she’s a strong candidate for aggressive radiation therapy, followed by chemotherapy. They’re hopeful this treatment plan can shrink the tumor and give Darla more time — potentially years — full of snuggles, sunbeams, and tail wags.

What Your Donation Will Help Cover

Every dollar raised will go directly to Darla’s ongoing medical needs, including:

Emergency hospitalization & stent surgery

Imaging (ultrasound, CT scans, lymph node aspiration)

Radiation therapy (15 sessions over 3 weeks)

Travel expenses (3 hours one way to NC State — 6 hours round trip daily for treatment)

My name is Amanda, and this is my little best friend, Darla. She’s a sweet, spunky Chihuahua who’s been by my side through life’s ups and downs. Right now, she’s facing the biggest health battle of her life — and I’m reaching out for help.

Darla has been diagnosed with a mass near her bladder and urethra, which is making it extremely painful and difficult for her to urinate. Some days she can barely go at all without my help. She’s been back and forth to the vet for bladder drainage, testing, medications, and now the only option that could truly relieve her pain is a urethral stent — a specialized procedure that will allow her to pass urine freely and live more comfortably.

Darla is still eating, alert, and full of love — she just needs a chance to feel better. Unfortunately, the cost of her care is more than I can handle alone.

We’ve been told that Darla’s full treatment — including diagnostics, medications, repeated vet visits, specialist care, and urethral stent placement — could total up to $9,000. I’ve set that as our goal so we can give her the absolute best shot at comfort and recovery.
