As many of you know, I volunteer with an Afghan family who came to Denver in 2021 when the Taliban took over Afghanistan. The dad in the family worked as an interpreter for the US Marines during the war, so he earned a Special Immigrant Visa to immigrate to the US. I have been very close with this family for four years now and still hang out with them a couple times a month!
They have a nephew living in Kabul who has a massive cancer tumor in his back. The facilities in Kabul were not able to treat him, they said he must go to Pakistan for treatment. As you can imagine the cost of the treatment, the 12-hour round-trip drive, and the medical visas to enter Pakistan are prohibitive for this family. There is virtually no way to earn an income in Afghanistan right now. The boy's mother has asked me not to share a photo of his face.
Luckily, our US dollars can go quite far for them.
Please, if you can give even a small amount, it will breathe hope into this family's life and get their son the care he needs. I know we can't help everyone, but we can certainly help a few. Please start here!
