Our hearts are shattered as we come together to honor and remember Nasier “Nasi” Rayford, a remarkable 14-year-old whose life touched so many people.

Nasi was an outstanding honor roll student, an amazing athlete, and a young man full of life. He was known for his goofy personality, his endless energy, and his ability to make everyone around him laugh. Whether he was cracking jokes with his friends, watching cartoons, enjoying his favorite snacks, or playing the sport he loved most—football—Nasi lived life with a joy that was contagious.

Just last Thursday, Nasi celebrated a major milestone as he graduated from middle school. Filled with excitement, dreams, and endless potential, he was preparing to begin the next chapter of his life as a high school student. His future was bright, and he had so much life ahead of him.

There was never a dull moment when Nasier was around. He had a special way of putting a smile on your face, no matter what kind of day you were having. He loved deeply and wholeheartedly, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him felt that love.

On Monday evening, while participating in football drills, Nasi suddenly collapsed and became unresponsive. He was rushed to Long Beach Memorial, where doctors performed numerous tests. It was there that his family received the devastating news that Nasi had suffered a brain aneurysm.

The days that followed were filled with prayers, hope, and the unwavering support of family, friends, teammates, classmates, and loved ones. Despite his incredible fight, Nasi’s journey has left a profound impact on everyone who knew and loved him.
