As many of you know, on Wednesday, January 7, we lost a great man, Kevin "Goody" Goodman.
Kevin was many things—a farmer, a coach, a mentor, and a friend—but most importantly, he was a devoted father and husband. He loved his family with everything he had. Kevin and Dana had a relationship that brought joy not only to each other but to many around them. Kevin lived a life dedicated to helping others and never put himself first. He spent countless hours coaching baseball and softball, serving as a County Supervisor, and simply being someone others could talk to. He lived a life many of us should strive to emulate. Kevin could fit in anywhere with anyone. Through his life experiences, he learned how to relate to others and consistently saw the best in people, no matter the situation.
Let us use this as a way to remember who Kevin was and to bring attention to the importance of mental health. This is a well-known but often unaddressed issue in the agricultural community. We must lean on one another during times like this and recognize that mental health is an ongoing struggle—one no one should face alone. Let us celebrate the life that Goody lived. He was deeply loved and will continue to be remembered. This GoFundMe page has been created to help the Goodman family with medical, funeral, and additional expenses. Kevin's care for his mental health was not covered by health insurance, highlighting a major gap in our current system. Any additional funds beyond their needs will be used to raise awareness around mental health, especially for those in rural communities. Kevin spent his life giving to others, and now we ask for help in giving back.
