Remembering Dmitri “BIG MEECH” Thompson

Our Neighborhood Hero

On behalf of the Thompson Family. We would like to honor the life of our beloved Dmitri “Big Meech” Thompson. Dmitri lived his life by a very simple code; he lived to serve others. Dmitri didn’t have a selfish bone in his body, he put everyone’s interest before his own.

Dmitri’s life passion was the sport of basketball. He played all his life and was fortunate enough to make it to the professional level. He traveled the world, playing the game he loved and passed away gracefully, doing just that.

This act of serving was engraved within him at a very early age. Even as early as elementary school, Dmitri had a passion for giving back. This carried on throughout middle school, high school, college, professional, and all the way to the present day in which he served the community by founding his non profit Rise League Inc.

To be brief, Rise league is consisted of a youth basketball organization (leagues, training, camps, tournaments, etc) and a business education scholarship program (guest speakers, seminars, networking, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, etc.)

Dmitri’s mother Lesa Thompson, father Dwight Thompson, older brother Dwight Thompson Jr and younger brother David Thompson were a huge part of his life. He was very family oriented and our family had a bond that could never be broken. He was such a loving son and an amazing brother. Our family cherished quality time over everything. Watching movies, traveling to watch Dmitri play, and family gatherings were some of the things we enjoyed the most. We always had a home that was welcoming others.

Dmitri’s life was shared with his beloved girlfriend, Ashley Clerrobrun. Over the last four years, Dmitri and Ashley’s love grew over their shared interest of traveling, new adventures, trying new restaurants and spending quality time with family and friends. His future plans with Ashley included sharing a home and creating a family filled with joy, love and laughter.

Dmitri was devoted to his family and his community. He was dedicated to his faith in God and wanted to shine his light on everyone he came in contact with.
