Home Robbed & API Target Crime - Life Savings Gone

Hi,

My name is Pete and I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my mother. She's one of the hardest-working individuals I know and experienced one of the most horrific events on the weekend of December 17th, 2022.

Two gunned robbers burglarized and destroyed her home, where she lives alone for almost 4 years. They stole her entire retirement and life savings -- along with valuable possessions that were passed down from her mother when she first immigrated to the U.S. in the 1990s, which meant a lot to her because her mother passed away the same year she came to the country -- and ripped all sense of safety and security for her. She's been heavily traumatized by this event and experiencing deep depression that makes my heart break for her.

Ever since she came to this country with no English, money, education, or support, she's worked tirelessly seven days a week in Chinese restaurants to secure a better life for herself and her children. Because of her devotion, I had the privilege to be the first in my family to graduate from middle school and onwards to a graduate-degree education. None of this would be possible without her sacrifices.

As of 12/28, insurance will not cover the loss given that she saved for her retirement throughout the decades in checks and cash. We also know from the police officers that came to the home along with media reports (https://www.wpxi.com/news/local/channel-11-exclusive-local-couple-robbed-police-believe-they-were-targeted-by-theft-ring/BHISZPLPZJE2FJL22C3UT4FMSU/) that this was a targeted robbery in Pittsburgh as these two burglars are seeking elderly, Asian restaurant owners to rob as they know restaurant owners work from early morning till late night seven days a week. Even after the robbery, she had to go to work the next day since this is the only small source of income she has.
