Emilio Bustamante, currently a 5th grade teacher at Craycroft Elementary School in the Sunnyside Unified School District, has been a teacher and union member for 23 years. In fact, the morning after his family was evicted from their home, Emilio was teaching his students remotely from a Walmart parking lot.
He deserves a community of educators who can show him the same commitment and support.
This spring, Emilio and his family suffered a number of financial hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including multiple cases of COVID-19 within his family, that ultimately led to them losing their rental home on August 31.
Funds raised by this campaign would go to helping the Bustamante family get their footing again after a number of financial setbacks. Specifically, we are trying to raise $8000, which would go toward finding a new rental home and moving costs, paying medical expenses for health issues incurred during this ordeal, and repaying money borrowed from Emilio’s mom.
