Help the McCoy Family Stay Afloat After Displacement
Four weeks ago, our lives were turned upside down when we were suddenly displaced from our home due to severe water damage. What started as a short-term issue has turned into a long, overwhelming process. We now have three more weeks of pipe and mold remediation, followed by an unknown amount of time waiting on insurance to approve the check needed to begin repairs. Once that’s finally done, contractors are estimating four additional months for the rebuild.
Despite being told that housing would be covered, and despite sending in every single receipt and document to insurance, we’ve received no reimbursement and no response.
In the meantime, we’re carrying the full burden—paying both rent and our mortgage. As of this week, we’ve paid $10,800 out of pocket just to have a roof over our heads: $1,400 a week in rent and $2,600 in mortgage payments, all with no help from insurance.
We’ve used up our emergency savings and reserves just trying to make it through the first month. I’m working full-time, and Dustin is in school full-time with limited hours available at work. We’re trying our best to stay strong for our kids, but we’re emotionally and financially drained.
If you’re able to donate—anything at all—it would mean the world to us. Every dollar will go directly toward covering rent and basic living expenses while we wait to return home.
Thank you for being part of our community. We’ve never asked for help like this before, and we’re truly grateful for every bit of support.
With love,
The McCoy Family
