Healing Isaiah

Spende geschützt
Please pray for my nephew Isaiah and my sister Jami.
My nephew is 22 years old and when he was 9 months old he was diagnosed with MSUD - Maple Syrup Urine Disease .  He has lived the majority of his life without complications, however has experienced several medical concerns over the past year and a half.  Each step of the way Jami has advocated for the DR's to consult the specialist's at the U of M, always being told "No, this is a classic case of...".  Most recently, in October he was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) and was in a nursing home for physical therapy.  On Nov 26th he was found in his room barley breathing and unconscious.  He was rushed to a local hospital where he has been fought for his life in the ICU.  He experienced a metabolic crisis due to MSUD and had other complications such as respiratory failure and septic shock.  On Dec 27th he was transferred from the ICU to an acute hospital to help  wean him off of his trach.
Isaiah was at the acute hospital for two weeks and two days when he crashed on Sun Jan 12th.  He had been off the trach for 5 days and had started talking, things were looking great until his blood pressure dropped and his heart rate skyrocketed.  He was rushed back to the hospital.  Upon arrival they found more illness.  Besides his MSUD, his feeding tube was somehow pulled out of his stomach and leaked into his abdomen making a 2 hour surgery necessary.  He also has pneumonia, septic shock, a UTI, sporadic blood pressure drops, sporadic skyrocketing heart rate, a STAPH infection (NOT MSRA thank goodness), E.Coli as well as a fever that will not go below 102+.  He was also put back on the ventilator.  His white blood cell count (WBC) was only 500 and it should be 4,000!  These doctors decided it was best to move Isaiah to the University of Minnesota.
On Tues Jan 14th he was transferred around 9:30 PM.  Time for some rest.
Wed Jan 15th brought on some new challenges, he was bleeding pretty severely from his surgical site.  They took him for a CT Scan, good news is there is no internal bleeding and the wound stopped bleeding.  He had an infection in the muscle around the surgical site, has a kidney stone, a bladder infection, a lesion on his liver and swelling on his bowels.  He also had quite a bit of fluid in his lungs but his vitals remained steady with the help of meds.  Over the next few days his WBC was slowly going up but his platelets were low so they added a bag of that to his IV.  His Neutrocyte count is 0 (means his immune system is basically non-existent).
On Fri Jan 17th his platelets were rising but dipped down again so they gave him another bag.  He had a rash on his feet and other places on his body, the doctors are trying to determine if it is cellulitis, yeast or something else.  They've broadened the antibiotics  so that should help.  He was off the vent for about an hour Thurs night but has been back on it since.
Sat Jan 18th Jami's wake up call from the hospital said he had an uneventful night, Praise the Lord!  They planned on holding steady all day and try to continue to wean his vent settings.  The rash seems to be improving with the new antibiotics which is great news!
On Sun Jan 19th his immune system was coming back and he's no longer Neutropenic!  He went 15 hours on the trach dome Sat night!  Now to relieve his body of all the extra fluid, he is so swollen and in pain from that.
Early morning today, Jan 20th Isaiah spiked a fever and the doctors are worried about infection in his surgical site.  They started additional antibiotics and he is scheduled for surgery shortly.  The surgeons opened up his staples and had to remove some infected tissue.  They stitched together some places where his abdominal wall had separated.  His vitals remained stable throughout surgery so good news overall.  At Noon today his heart rate and oxygen levels plummeted.  About 30 people swarmed into his room to help and stabilize him.  He had a blockage of secretions.  Now we want time for him to rest, to heal and once he's strong enough and healthy enough move onto the next level of rehab for him.  It is going to be a VERY HARD, LONG road to recovery for him.  He needs to relearn how to move every part of his body as he is not able to move anything but his head right now.
Jami has not been at work for over a week.  She is a single mother of 3 kids.  Jami does not ask for help, Jami is the first one there to help others when needed, even if she cannot afford to do so.  Since she was a little girl all she wanted to do was help others, work with kids and make a difference.  That is exactly what she's doing and she is GREAT at it!  She works for a non-profit in Minneapolis and LOVES her job!  They love her too as they have been so patient and flexible with all of this.  But now JAMI & Isaiah need help!  Without working, comes no paycheck, she needs money to put food on the table, gas in her car, bills and a mortgage to pay and who knows what other expenses she will have with all of this.  Isaiah is currently uninsured, waiting to be approved for MA.  Hospital bills and possible home remodeling will be mounting in.  The house Jami lives in is a multi-multi-level, she has no idea what she’ll need to have done to accommodate Isaiah when he’s finally able to come home.  Please pray for healing, pray for all the doctors and nurses that are treating and caring for him to give him the best care possible and please share this site and contribute if you can, even $1 makes a difference and will be greatly appreciated and used where it is needed.  Thank you!
