What is a woman, if not the fragments of the women before her?

Welcome to your Heritage...

My name is Rosie, I am the creator and director of the student project titled 'Heritage'. This work is a multimedia installation, fusing documentary film media, tactile objects, and photography, to cultivate an ethereal and immersive experience. It is an exploration of matriarchal lineage, the conventions of femininity that are passed down through generations, and the choice that each new generation of women has to break or embody them.

All elements of this deeply personal work will be a reflection of what I have learnt from my own mother, and what she has learnt from hers, to cultivate and reconstruct into what I recognise as my own femininity.

'Heritage' is a celebration of womanhood; it will focus on a search for self by taking fragments of my history to shape an understanding of what it means to be a strong female, whilst at the same time dismantling antiqued notions of femininity.
