Henry Irwin: A Journey to Healing & Support

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Supporters,

I hope this message finds you well, my name is Christine Perry. I am reaching out to share the brave and inspiring journey of my beloved nephew, Henry, who has brain cancer - specifically Ependymoma.

Henry is a strong and spirited young boy, who underwent surgery to remove a plum-sized Cancerous Ependymoma tumor from his brain on February 9th, 2024. This unexpected journey, which only started on February 7, 2024, has been nothing short of a roller coaster for Henry, the Irwin family, the Perry/Piercy family, and the extensive community that knows and loves Henry.

We got some good news on March 8, 2024,  the medical team officially confirmed they removed 100% of the grade 3 cancerous ependymoma tumor and the brain is healing and beginning to re-fill the space it took. Additionally they did not find any cancerous cells in his spinal cord.

Starting on March 21, 2024, Henry is scheduled for six weeks of targeted radiation therapy where the tumor in his brain lived. Additionally, he will have weekly intensive vision therapy for the next 52 weeks due to the development of double vision post-surgery that medical insurance does not cover.

While Henry and his family remain resilient in the face of these challenges, the financial burden of medical expenses has added an extra layer of stress during an already difficult time.
