On April, 2017, Maria Martinez was diagnosed with Metastic breast cancer. As you can imagine, this came as a total shock to everyone.  It has been particulary difficult for her four children.  Her boyfriend Jamie, has been by her side helping Maria remain strong.  Everyone that knows Maria is heart broken.  She is so selfless - always helping anyone that crosses her path.  More importantly, Maria is an incredible mother.  I truly admire her for the way she has sacrificed so much for her kids.

Treatment:
Although the news was difficult to deal with, she had to make the difficult treatments choices.  Working with her doctors, they agreed on 4 aggressive rounds of chemo therapy, following with radiation and another 12 weeks of chemo (not so aggressive, but still chemo) then a double mastectomy and finally reconstructive surgery.

The Impact:
If the emotional impact was not bad enough, the financial burden to fight this horrible disease is gutwrenching!  Insurance only covers a portion of the treatment; that is, "after the deductibles get covered".  This wonderful family will go in some serious debt.  This is not fair!
